Training & Behaviour

Our Approach
At Zoomies, we believe every dog is wonderfully unique and that means their training, care and lifestyle should be too. Our team takes the time to understand your dog’s individual personality, genetics, behaviours and boundaries so we can create a plan that actually fits them and you. But here’s the thing. In order for your dog to truly thrive, you need to feel confident in the why behind everything we do. That’s why we focus just as much on teaching you as we do your dog. When you understand your dog’s needs, communication style, and behaviour patterns, everything starts to click. Our goal is to guide you step by step until you feel ready and empowered to keep moving forward. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method or outdated dominance theories. Instead, we use a science-backed, relationship-focused approach that’s based on observation, thoughtful questions and a deep respect for your dog’s emotional and physical well-being. Together, we’ll help your dog learn, grow, and feel safe while you build the skills and confidence to support them every step of the way.
What to Expect Working with Our Team

When you work with the Zoomies crew, you can expect a personalised, honest and realistic approach that’s built around your dog’s unique needs and yours too. We don’t believe in cookie-cutter training. Every dog is different, every home is different and every plan we create reflects that. Your journey with us begins with a comprehensive consultation. This is your chance to have an open, judgement-free chat about your dog’s lifestyle, daily habits and any struggles you’ve been facing. We’re here to listen, ask questions and get a full picture of your dog’s world. From there, we’ll help you define your goals. One of the key questions we ask is: “What is most important to you and your dog?” This helps us shape a path forward that feels aligned with your priorities, values and hopes. If it feels like we’re the right fit to support you, we’ll take everything we’ve learned and begin creating a training plan tailored to your dog’s individual personality, lifestyle and genetic makeup. Once that’s in place, we’ll book your first hands-on session and begin the work together.

Are We the Right Fit for You and Your Dog?
Finding the right trainer is a big decision and we believe it should feel like a true partnership. Before you begin, it’s important to understand the training philosophy you’re committing to and make sure it aligns with your values. At Zoomies, our team uses a flexible and thoughtful blend of techniques, always based on your dog’s individual needs and their emotional and behavioural responses. In most cases, we focus on positive reinforcement methods including clicker training, event marking, desensitisation, and counter-conditioning. These approaches help build trust, clarity, and confidence in a way that’s both effective and kind. When we’re supporting dogs with fear, anxiety, or past trauma, we move at their pace. We prioritise emotional safety above all else and we work hard to stay within their comfort threshold because true progress happens when a dog feels safe and seen. We do not support the use of dominance-based training, punishment, yelling, force, or aversive tools like shock or prong collars and we won’t use them under any circumstance. Our promise is to advocate for your dog while guiding and educating you with empathy and honesty. If that sounds like what you’re looking for, we’d love to support you both.
Our Mission
After working with hundreds of dogs across the world, our founder Lisa Telle discovered one thing was always true: Dogs thrive when their training, adventure and nutrition needs are met in a way that feels natural, respectful and fun. Zoomies was born from that belief. Since then Lisa has built a team of empathetic, intuitive trainers who share her commitment to improving the well-being, behaviour and happiness of every dog we meet. Our mission is to help dogs and their humans build a life they genuinely love together: one that strengthens the bond, nurtures trust and honours the unique relationship you share. We’re here to walk alongside you, educate and empower you and celebrate the joy of living in sync with your dog.
